PEDAL THE PORTS FOR MOTOR NEURONE 22nd May 2008A very good friend of ours, Nick Palmer, Associated British Ports (ABP) Port Director, most recently of Grimsby & Immingham has recently retired in light of his battle with Motor Neurone Disease.
Nick's colleagues at ABP have decided to do something positive to support him, to raise awareness of the condition, and to raise funds that support research and palliative care.
During June 2008 a number of ABP staff and myself (Ian Mackenzie)will cycle in relay (on a tandem) to and from the Port of Grimsby via their other 20 UK port locations. The estimate of the total distance involved is expected to be over 1600.
I shall be joing the effort in Garston and cycling to Swansea, from the 16th-18th June. (Approx 200 miles).
If you would like to contribute to this worthwhile effort by sponsoring me I should be delighted to hear from you.
Corporate donations through cheques made payable to ABP Pedal the Ports can be forwarded direct to our office at 1-3 Dudley Street, Grimsby, DN31 2AW
Personal donations can be made through the JustGiving web portal at http://www.justgiving.com/abppedaltheports. Don't forget to complete the Gift Aid declaration if you are a UK taxpayer.
Please help if you can, it will be much appreciated and all monies raised will go to a very worthwhile cause.
Thank you
