IS THERE A LIGHT ON THE HORIZON?
23rd March 2010After an encouraging start to 2010 for us, once again the shipping industry seems to have fallen into the doldrums during March. Depressed freight rates, disputed backdated ports rates, manufacturing stuttering along, and retail sales showing very little evidence of a real return to growth have a long lasting effect on our industry.
The Government would have us believe that the worst is over, but is it?
We have endured a difficult 12 months, along with many of our our clients, we have seen a few well known names disappear, and there is evidence of further mergers and acquisitions along the way which will further disrupt and change the face of the industry.
We welcome a return to the 'we are open for business' signs reappearing on our customers doors, and are well positioned to help clients, both old and new meet their expectations going forward.
